On Seeing A Cage

What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you see a cage?

Do you feel the need to scooch to the end of your seat and kick the door open?

Bringing your attention back to the present,

You're not really in a cage.

Yet the thought of a cage, which would mean losing your freedom, takes over.

However decorative and luxurious a cage may be,

A cage is still what it is, a cage.

For some a cage may be a literal cage,

While for others it may symbolise expectations, belief systems, past self-image, fears that breed, worries that multiply and many other limitations.

Now, while we are growing,

These constraints can hold us back,

From realising our full potential,

Our hopes and dreams gradually dwindle to fit in,

And we continue to shrink to get comfortable in this tiny space.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀?

Evolution depends on us continuously improving, whether visible or below the surface.

What if that cage is a test, of whether we are willing to take that leap of growth,

Or if we would choose comfort over it all.

The game of life is rigged,

But what if every obstacle is an opportunity to make better decisions?

Would you choose to stay within that comfortable space or catapult into the next path of growth?
